October 3rd:
Kanu o ka ʻĀina New Century Public Charter School’s 2nd grade students and their kumu drove all the way from Waimea today to spend the morning at Lokowaka. 
Their class theme this year is native plants, beginning the first quarter with a focus on coastal and wetland species.
Their class theme this year is native plants, beginning the first quarter with a focus on coastal and wetland species.Not only did they get to see many of the native plants we care for, but they were also lucky to spot nēnē, ʻalae keʻokeʻo, ʻaukuʻu, and koloa. 
The students worked hard with great enthusiasm and built a beautiful connection with the ʻāina.

今朝は、ハワイ島ワイメアにあるカヌオカアイナ・ニューセンチュリー・パブリック・チャータースクールの2年生の生徒たちと先生方が、ロコワカまで来てくれました。 今年のクラスのテーマは「在来植物」で、まずは沿岸植物と湿地植物に焦点をあてているそうです。

午後には、ハワイ・ツーリズム・オーソリティ(ハワイ州観光)のグループも訪問してくれ、私たちのロコワカでの環境再生の取り組みについて学んでいただくことができました
October 6th:
A New York couple on their honeymoon joined us today, alongside community volunteers, including members of the Waiakea High School Robotics Club. One of our regular volunteers is the owner of The Locavore Store, a food hub that uplifts Hawaiʻi’s producers and craftspeople. Together, we worked in the area we began restoring this summer.
Today was also a special milestone — the first time Lokowaka heard our own oli kāhea (entrance chant), composed just this month. The nearly full Akua moon, tied to wai (water) and feminine energy, made the moment feel sacred. Our oli kāhea calls to wai and moʻo wahine Wakakeakaikawai, the female water guardian spirit, weaving her presence, protection, and the living energy of the place into every step we take.
今日はニューヨークから新婚旅行でいらしたカップルが、私たちの活動に参加してくださいました。地域のボランティアや、ワイアケア高校ロボティクスクラブのメンバーたちも一緒でした。常連のボランティアの一人は、ハワイの生産者や職人を応援する食品店 The Locavore Store のオーナーです。私たちは、今年の夏に除草を始めたエリアで作業を行いました。
今日は特別な節目の日でもありました 。今月作ったばかりの私たちの オリ・カーヘア（入るときのチャント）を、初めてロコワカに向かってとなえることができました。今日の月は満月の前の、ワイ（水）と女性のエネルギーに関連のあるアクア、で、私たちのオリは、水と女性のモオであるワカケアカイカワイに捧げられるので、とても良いタイミングでした。
October 12th:
It was a beautiful volunteer day at Lokowaka!Our regulars were joined by UHH College of Pharmacy students, Biology 124 class (Environment and Ecology), and even one volunteer’s family.
We’re so thankful to have such a caring community giving their time to the ʻāina.

ロコワカでのボランティアデーは本当に素晴らしい一日でした！常連のボランティアさんたちに加え、ハワイ大学ヒロ校ダニエル・K・イノウエ薬学部の学生さんたち、ハワイ・コミュニティ・カレッジのBiology 124（環境と生態学）クラスの皆さん、そしてある常連ボランティアさんのご家族まで参加してくださいました。

October 19th:
Our community volunteers — both new and returning — were joined today by University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Geology 100 (Environmental Geology) class and a group from Clark Memorial High School in Japan, along with visitors from New York, Washington, and Minnesota.Everyone worked hard and removed a large amount of California grass! The three ʻalae keʻokeʻo (Hawaiian coots) that frequent the area will surely enjoy the newly cleared habitat we created today.
今日のボランティアデーには、常連さんや新しい地元の参加者に加え、ハワイ大学ヒロ校の地質学100（環境地質学）クラス、日本のクラーク記念国際高等学校のグループ、そしてニューヨーク、ワシントン、ミネソタからの旅行者も参加してくださいました。みんなで力を合わせて、たくさんのカリフォルニアグラスを取り除きました！このエリアに来るようになっている3羽のアラエケオケオ（ハワイオオバン）が、今日さらに切り広げたところをきっと喜んでくれることでしょう。

We welcomed one volunteer in the morning and students from University of Hawaii at Hilo Kuleana and Community class in the afternoon. Mahalo to everyone for your hard work and care for the ʻāina!

October 25th:
We have passed through the heat of Kū in kauwela (summer), and now the days have grown cooler and wetter — it is hoʻoilo, the season of Lono.
Mahalo nui loa to all our community volunteers, including the students from HCC Biology 124 (Environment and Ecology), for working hard in the rain today! Together we cleared the regrowth of weeds in the area that was restored this summer — and now we are ready to open a new section for restoration.
クーの季節である夏（kauwela）の暑さを越え、今は涼しく雨の多い時期hoʻoilo、ロノの季節となりました。
今日、雨の中で熱心に作業してくださったコミュニティのボランティアのみなさん、そしてコミュニティカレッジ Biology 124（環境学と生態学）の学生のみなさんに心から感謝します。
この夏に除去したエリアに再び生えてきた雑草を取り除き終わりました。これで新しいエリアを広げて行く準備ができました。
