On this Kūkahi day of the Hawaiian lunar calendar—a time of rising energy—we welcomed an inspiring group of teachers and community educators to our very first teachers workshop at Lokowaka. The workshop was Co-hosted with Diana Warren of Learning Endeavors (Maui) and centered on coastal wetlands and climate resilience. Our local educators immersed themselves in hands-on learning, gaining practical experience with place-based strategies to teach wetland ecology.
ハワイの旧暦でエネルギーが高まる「クーカヒ」の日に、ロコワカで初めての教師向けワークショップを開催しました。マウイ島のLearning Endeavorsのダイアナ・ウォーレンさんとの共催で、素晴らしい先生方や地域の教育者の皆さんが集まってくださいました。テーマは「沿岸湿地と気候レジリエンス」でした。

Mahalo nui to all the teachers and community educators who joined us for this special day, cohosted with Diana Warren of Learning Endeavors. Hosting this workshop at Lokowaka has been a deeply held dream ever since Kumiko attended a teacher development workshop on Maui in March 2024, focused on the Hōʻike o Haleakalā Curriculum and hosted by The Maui Invasive Species Committee and Learning Endeavors.

このロコワカでのワークショップ開催は、2024年3月にクミコがマウイ島で参加した、The Maui Invasive Species CommitteeとLearning Endeavorsが主催した「Hōʻike o Haleakalāカリキュラム」に基づいた教師研修にインスパイアされて以来、ずっと思い描いてきた夢でした。
