A special mahalo to the Southwest Airlines employees who joined us in the field, to Cafe Pesto Hilo Bay for the delicious pizzas and Express Waiters for delivering them, and to Waiakea for keeping us refreshed and hydrated. We’re so thankful for this amazing community support!
経験豊富な常連のボランティアの皆さんも、初めて参加してくださった皆さんも、私たちにとって本当にかけがえのない宝物です。今日も素晴らしいボランティアの方々が集まりました。皆さん本当にありがとうございました。皆さんの元気なエネルギーと温かいアロハのおかげで、作業を行った場所は生き返りました。
今日はサウスウエスト航空の職員の参加もありました。美味しいピザをご提供くださったカフェ・ペスト、配達してくださったエクスプレス・ウェイターズ、水分補給をしてくださったワイアケアにも深く感謝しています。たくさんのご支援、本当にありがとうございました！
April 6th:
Mahalo to University of Hawaii at Hilo Geology 100 Environmental Earth Science students and Professor Cheryl Gansecki for spending their Sunday helping to restore the precious wetland at Kiʻonakapahu Pond, part of the Lokowaka Pond complex. Thanks to their hard work, a large area was cleared!
We are deeply grateful that this special place continues to grow as a gathering space for those who embody the spirit of mālama ʻāina.
Mahalo also to Waiakea for providing refreshing water for us—it was much appreciated on this sunny day!
今日は、ハワイ大学ヒロ校の地質学100「環境地球科学」の学生のみなさんと、シェリル・ガンセキ先生が、ロコワカ池群の一部・キオナカパフ池の湿地の再生に来てくれました。日曜日の大切なお休みに集まってくれて、本当にありがとう！おかげで、かなり広い範囲の草がなくなりました！
この特別な場所が、「マラマ・アーイナ（土地を思いやって大切にする心）」を持つ人たちがつながる場になっていることが、とっても嬉しいです。
April 20th:
Community members and visitors from Honolulu, California, and Japan worked hard on April 20th, tackling a massive pile of previously cut grass mixed with mud. We are so grateful for these amazing, dedicated people! Now the water can flow into this area. Thank you everyone!

4月20日は、ホノルル、カリフォルニア、そして日本から来られた旅行者と、地元のメンバーが、抜いたり刈ったりした外来種の草を積み上げていた巨大な山を、別の場所に移動させるを手伝ってくれました。本当にありがたかったです。これでここに水が流れ込むようになります。
April 26th:
Today marked our final volunteer day of the hoʻoilo (winter) season!
Thanks to the hard work of many dedicated volunteers, we were able to clear a brand-new area — a true team effort that brought major progress.
It was wonderful to have both our regular members and visitors from California and Japan join us, adding to the day’s spirit of community and connection. Mahalo nui!
As we worked, several ʻalae keʻokeʻo (Hawaiian coots) nearby were busy displaying courtship behaviors. Toward the end of the day, an ʻio (Hawaiian hawk) soared overhead, as if acknowledging our efforts. After everyone had left, a pair of nēnē (Hawaiian goose) arrived — a beautiful blessing to close the day.

4月26日、Hoʻoilo（ハワイの冬）シーズン最後のボランティアデーでした。
多くの熱心なボランティアの皆さんのおかげで、新しいエリアを草をなくすことができました。予想以上に広い範囲がスッキリと変身しました。
常連メンバーに加え、カリフォルニアや日本からの参加者も一緒に力を合わせての、素晴らしい日でした。ありがとうございました！
作業中には、近くで ʻalae keʻokeʻo（ハワイオオバン）が求愛行動を見せてくれる場面もありました。作業の終わり頃には、まるで私たちの努力を称えてくれるかのように ʻio（ハワイノスリ）が姿を現し、さらに全員が帰った後には、nēnē（ハワイガン）のつがいが来ました。まるで祝福のような、美しい締めくくりとなりました。
私たちの水分補給をサポートしてくれたWaiākea にも、心から感謝しています。
